Our Purpose.
The main objective for which Great Island Theatre was established is the advancement of performing arts, in Cobh and on the Great Island, for various diverse groups in the community involved in performing arts, through the provision of a community theatre to showcase those skills for the enjoyment of the community at large.

Great Island Theatre
Great Island Theatre is a Company Limited by Guarantee formed with the objective of creating a vibrant community theatre based in the Old Parochial Hall in Cobh. The building has been purchased in trust with this objective in mind and we now need to raise substantial funds to pay for the building and it’s renovation.
The Theatre will have capacity for 100 seats with parking in the Cathedral Car Park already approved. The theatre will serve the needs of all performing arts requiring the use of a stage and facilitating a seated audience. It will be designed to achieve maximum audience participation with lighting and audio systems to match the needs of the space. There will be a reception area at the Roches Row entrance and changing rooms and toilets will be installed.
