Funding Plans

  • Seat Pledges

    We plan to raise €100,000 through the sale/sponsorship of 100 seats in the theatre. We are appealing to businesses and individuals in the community to pledge €1000 per seat. For this donation the sponsor will receive the following:

    Your Company or Personal name on the seat sponsored

    Three years free membership of the Great Island Theatre (Details of Membership benefits to be detailed later but will include early access to seats to all shows at a reduced rate)

  • Government

    Applications and approaches will be made to a number of Local and Central Government Bodies and philanthropists seeking funding. These will include but will not be limited to the following:


    - SECAD
    - Arts Council
    - Urban Council
    - Cork County Council
    - Local benefactors and community philanthropists

  • Special Donation & Grant

    David and Heather Bird have generously donated €30,000 towards the purchase of the Old Parochial Hall and we greatly appreciate this very significant contribution. Thank you so much David and Heather on behalf of the entire community of Cobh and the Great Island

    Thank you to the incredible volunteers from ‘The Friends of the Theatre’ who are leading the planning and execution of our fundraising events. This mission would not be possible without you!

    A special thank you to the Haulbowline Theatre Group for keeping the spirit of theatre alive since the very beginning on our great island - drawing inspiration from the rich legacy of Haulbowline Theatre on the Naval Base.
