Haulbowline Theatre Group proudly presents Big Maggie, the classic Irish drama by John B. Keane, directed by Michael Brady, in support of The Great Island Theatre.
Set in rural Ireland in the 1960s, Big Maggie tells the powerful story of Maggie Polpin, a recently widowed woman who shocks her family and community when she takes full control of the family farm and finances. Refusing to follow tradition, Maggie challenges expectations, confronts greed, and demands respect in a gripping battle of wills with her own children.
Blending sharp humour with powerful drama, Big Maggie is one of John B. Keane’s most celebrated works – a compelling exploration of family, power, and independence that remains as relevant today as ever.
This special production brings together a talented local cast and crew in support of the Great Island Theatre project, helping to bring a permanent theatre space to the community.
